I just wanted to say hello to the group. I am a new Celtic Reconstructionist (been one for about 2 or 3 years) who has been a practicing Pagan for about 7 years. I live in Texas (which to me is in the South West, don't know if anyone else considers it as such). Before that I lived in Louisiana, and before that in New Hampshire. I was however born in Ohio. So I get around.I have been looking for a Celtic Reconstructionist Community for some time, and thanks to a friend who suggested the communities on live journal have finally found one. So I hope you all live up to my expectations. I am hoping to learn alot from you guys.I am currently reading the Tain, Kinsela Translation. It is an amazingly hard book to read, but not as hard as the Bible is (and yes I was a Christian before becoming a Pagan). I find that the Tain was something that was probably meant to be listened to more than it was meant to be read, but we all probably knew that already didn't we? =PWell thats my introduction, hope you liked it.
Welcome! I too was a Christian before becoming a Pagan, so I kind of know where you're coming from on that.I really wish that somebody would do an audiobook recording of Kinsella's translation of the Tain bo Cualinge. They exist for Beowulf, another oral poem that was slaughtered when read, and are great.Again, Welcome!
don't know if you saw this http://community.livejournal.com/paganacht/4382.htmli'm in OK, i'm totally new to Celtic Reconstructionism and would love to meet more people close to my area who have knowledge to share and maybe book swap and such, or even meet up. I'm neat Oklahoma City and you are a state over, not sure how close you are. anyhow, any thoughts?
Thank you I will check it out... I live in the Dallas are, but have no vehicle. So getting to Oklahoma City would be a problem for me.
